#CookingWithKana – Pempek πŸŸ

yay! i’m finally cooking after a while. and here i am, cooking one of my favourite food, pempek 😍😍😍

pempek is a dish from palembang, made from fish and flour, kind of like siomay. there are many types of pempek but i currently only have 3 (kapal selam, lonjong, bulat)

kapal selam is a pempek filled with egg (not sure if it’s just the yolk or not because it’s just a yellow filling), and kapal selam itself means “submarine” because of the shape. (tbh i don’t think it looks like a submarine, it’s more like a heart shape)

this time i fried the lonjong one, since i don’t quite like the bulat (round) one.
#1 β€” this is a pic of the pempek, a cutting board, and a knife. you will also need a frying pan, oil strainer and cooking oil. and of course, a stove.

#2 β€” cut the pempek (i prefer into 4 pieces, but it’s up to you)

#3 β€” turn up the heat and fry the pempek for +/- 5-10 minutes. fry until it’s crispy, but if you want it to be oily (lol who wants that tho), don’t fry it for too long

#4 β€” put the pempek on the oil strainer.

#5 β€” move the pempek to a bowl and voila! you’re doneπŸ’–
